TOWERS and TALES  - THE LISMORE STORY FESTIVAL, CO. CORK, EIRE, MAY 2024

The bank holiday weekend of May, 2024, saw the 10th anniversary of our wonderful Tales and Tales Festival, housed in the magical medieval grounds of Lismore Castle, Co. Cork, Eire.

Little did we expect back on 2014, when we first launched a humble presentation, that ten years on we would be riding high, and the festival become one of Ireland's best attended and main literary events in Ireland. With grateful funding from the National Lottery, this celebration was the best event yet, with the fine weather bringing record attendance from visitors all over Ireland, and beyond.

We were delighted to host writers, poets and illustrators from all over the world, and particular favorites included the wonderful Sheena Dempsey, the charismatic Brian Fitzgerald from Dublin, and Alex T Smith, whose seminar on how to write and publish a book had the main auditorium bursting to the edges.

With our vision set afresh we look forward to another decade of Towers and Tales, and will be casting our net even wider in the years to come.

Don't forget to come and visit us next year in May, 2025

THE BRITISH MUSEUM - AUGUST 2023

It was a great pleasure to welcome a group from Hangzhou, and be invited to take them for an introductory tour of The British Museum. Hosting twenty eager visitors ranging in ages from youngsters under ten to teenagers and their parents, the group was eager to set off and see the wonders that the 270 year-old collection has to offer. A sweep through the Egyptian Galleries, seeing Amenhotep II and the awe-inspiring Rosetta Stone,  to the airy and impressive Duveen Galleries of Parthenon marbles led us on to stop at the gigantic Rapa Nui statue of the south Pacific, en route to the Chinese galleries.

Mummies and Egyptian sarcophagi are always a highlight, and time was spent with photographs at the tomb of the embalmed Cleopatra. A final sortie through Roman and Celtic Britain with a stop of at the ever-glittering Sutton Hoo trove of Redwaeld, the Anglo-Saxon king of East Anglia, allowed us a final stop-off at the Viking Lewis Chessmen. Tea and cake in the fore-court was much welcomed with aching feet, but spirits high and enthusiasm unremitting!

Should you or your group would like a tour of The British Museum or The National Gallery please get in touch and we can make arrangements.
